Time Management Tips for Busy Entrepreneurs


The road to entrepreneurship can be a tough and busy one. As an entrepreneur, it can be pretty easy to get to a place where you become burned out. If you're too tired to work, your ability to provide for yourself will suffer. In order to make sure you're in a position where you can take care of yourself and your business, you've got to focus on practicing healthy time management habits. If your schedule usually rules over you, time management practices will help you to rule over your day and regain control of your schedule. Try these four tips to begin the mastery of your time.


  1. Eliminate distractions.

Between social media, emails and phone calls, it can be hard to focus on one thing. Take a look at the things that you waste time doing. If you spend too much time watching television, turn the tv off and focus on things you need to accomplish. Delete the social media apps on your phone if you spend too much time on them. Be intentional about your elimination process.


  1. Outsource.

It's pretty common for most people to have a million things on their lists that need to be completed. One of the most common mistakes people make involves the attempt to do everything on their own. In order for you to be truly successful with all of your tasks, you're going to need assistance. Take a look at your planner and see what things you can outsource. See if you can hire a maid and outsource the home cleaning process. If you can pick up a few hot dinners at a local buffet, that'll save you some time on dinner preparation.   1. Avoid multi-tasking.

When you try to do a few tasks at once, it takes a lot longer. Focus on one task at a time. Don't try to manage a conference call and work on a major report at the same time. You'll throw yourself off, and both of those tasks will reflect your lack of focus. If you're working on a task like a cardiovascular workout, try to avoid reading a full book. Unless it's an audio book, you'll spend more time trying to figure out how to manage the elliptical machine and find the right sentence at the same time. Besides, if you're really giving the workout your all, you shouldn't be able to read a book at the same time.


  1. Get up early.

"Early to bed and early to rise makes a man healthy, wealthy and wise." This is a famous saying by Benjamin Franklin that holds true today as well. It can be very difficult to manage your time properly if you're extremely fatigued. While there may be some nights when burning the midnight oil is inevitable, try not to make it a daily habit. Your body needs an adequate amount of rest.

As an entrepreneur, it may take time for you to really find your groove with this new schedule. Just don't stop trying to practice and adjust your schedule according to your needs.
