Spending New Year’s Eve in NYC is on people’s bucket list around the world. It’s a dream destination to usher in the New Year, but if you are not prepared it can be really disappointing.
At Stride Limo, we’ve been in the New York Limo Service industry for over 20 years so we know a thing or two about spending NYE in NYC.
Here are our top tips for your New York New Year’s Eve:
Do You Really Want to Watch the Ball Drop?
If your dream is to spend New Year’s Eve in New York, then it probably involved watching the ball drop at Times Square. Millions of people around the world watch it every year, it symbolizes bringing in the New Year and it generally looks like a whole lot of fun. But if you are seriously considering going, then you should consider what comes along with it. First of all, you have to get there really early, like 3 in the afternoon. If you don’t, you will be so far away from Times Square you might as well watch it on the TV. Second, you can’t go to the toilet because you will lose your space. Finally, is it really worth standing there all day when you could be at one of the other great events around the city?
If that doesn’t put you off, then you will probably enjoy yourself. It is an amazing and iconic event.
If You Want to Eat Out, Book Now!
You’re not the only person that has thought about booking a table in New York on the big night. If you want to experience the New York cuisine on the busiest night of year, then you need to get your booking in now. A lot of restaurants are already fully booked but there are still some tables available.
Consider Going to A Show or Concert
New Year’s Eve is a night of celebration, drinking and dancing. Across New York there are hundreds of shows and concerts to see. Almost every venue will have something on, so it is really up to your own personal taste!
Try A Booze Cruise On The New York Harbor
There are loads of different New Year’s Eve cruises available from the New York Harbor. There’s everything from black-tie events to family friendly trips. Great if you are looking for an atmospheric way to bring in the New Year.
Make A Plan
Even though there are countless options for something to do on NYE in New York, you need to make a plan. A lot of events will be ticket-only so you’ll need to book in advance, and you don’t want to be stuck on the other side of town without a lift home!
Do Something Different
The obvious choice is to spend NYE in Times Square or at one of the hundreds of parties around the city, but why not try something a bit different. There are huge bike rides and fun-runs going on around the city as well as cuisine-based parties and all sort of other interesting ways to bring in the New Year.
